Create an agent

Every agent starts from an agent template, a complete starting point that carries a Personality, Guardrails, Goals, Playbooks, and, where relevant, an Outreach and People fields. Identity and credentials are yours to supply.

This document describes the setup that is the same whichever template you choose. What each template expects on top of it is covered in Agent templates.

Before you begin

  • Decide which template fits the job.
  • Have the company website URL ready. Anychat can seed identity, Things, and Sources from it.

1. Create the agent

In the console, open Agent Studio and click New agent. Give it a name, pick the template, and paste the company website URL.

With a URL supplied, Anychat crawls the site in the background and fills in:

  • Identity and branding: company name and description, logo, brand color, contact phone and email, and legal links.
  • Things: the products, treatments, or services it finds, as catalog cards.
  • Sources: the site's content pages, so the agent can answer grounded questions from the start.

Identity and Things land first, and Sources finish a minute or two later. You can do all of it by hand instead, or run the import again later from the agent's Identity page.

The picker lists the templates your workspace is offered, which an Anychat operator sets, so it can show fewer than the catalog contains.

2. Review identity and personality

Open Build · Behavior · Identity and confirm the name, company description, logo, brand color, and contact details. These appear on the verified business profile and are what the agent hands out when someone asks for a person, so the phone number and email must be real.

Open Personality and click Choose personality to swap the voice for a catalog preset, or edit the text directly. See Set personality.

3. Fill in Things and Knowledge

Review the Things catalog. Each entry has a name, description, picture, and optional links, and the agent describes only what is written there.

Upload any Sources the website did not cover, such as price sheets, policy documents, or a list of frequently asked questions. The agent grounds factual answers in this material and says plainly when something is not covered. See Add knowledge.

4. Connect a channel

Bind the agent to a messaging channel under Build · Channels. Rich content such as carousels, time pickers, and tap-to-call needs a rich channel. See Choose a channel and Connect a channel.

Provisioning a managed channel takes days to weeks, so start it before you need it and keep working in the emulator meanwhile.

5. Try it before you launch

Talk to the agent in the emulator, or share a standalone emulator link with a colleague who has no console account. Iterate on personality, Things, and Knowledge until it reads the way you want.

Verify

The agent is ready to launch when readiness is clean, lint is clean, you have read one review, your Tests pass, and someone on your side has talked to it on the channel you are launching, from their own phone, through early access.
