Manage media¶
The media library is the set of pictures (and, as rich channels allow, videos) an agent may show: in a rich card, in a swipeable carousel, or on its own. A menu as a carousel of dishes, a "here's what we do" showcase early in a conversation, the Thing photo that goes with an answer. Rich business messaging is image-led; the library is where those items live and how the agent and your templates refer to them. Managed at Knowledge · Media.
What an item is¶
Every item has:
- an id, a short slug such as
showcase-authentic-ai, shown as a copyableimage:<id>token. This is how everything else refers to the item. Ids are stable. - a name and an optional usage hint. These are the fields for people: what the item is, and when the agent should reach for it ("early in the conversation, when explaining what RCS can do", "when the person asks about pricing"). They are what the library page shows at a glance.
- a description, written by a vision model when the item is added (what it depicts, any visible text quoted exactly). This is for the agent: it is what the agent reads when deciding whether a picture fits the moment. It is editable behind Edit, and Regenerate rewrites it from the file.
Adding and replacing items¶
Upload files (PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP, up to 5 MB each; drag them onto the page or use Upload) or Add by URL to fetch a picture that is already hosted somewhere. Anychat stores its own copy; when you remove an item from the library the stored file is deleted too, so the library is the one place that decides what the agent can show.
To update a picture, drop the new file on its card (or use Replace file in edit mode). The item keeps its id, name and usage hint, so every template that references it shows the new picture; the description is regenerated from the new file.
Using items¶
In a Message or playbook, name an item by id wherever an
AML marker takes media::
Here's a quick look at what we do.
[[carousel
Authentic AI Conversations ~ No more dead-end auto-replies. | media: image:showcase-authentic-ai
Rich, Verified Media ~ High-resolution images, carousels, badges. | media: image:showcase-media
Support & Scheduling ~ Book, confirm and reschedule in the thread. | media: image:showcase-scheduling]]
[[chips: Book a demo | How does it work?]]
[[card | Title ~ description | media: image:<id> | link: Learn more = https://…]]
sends one card; [[media: image:<id>]] sends the picture alone. The
Messages page lists your items as copyable tokens next to the
slot reference. A playbook then sends the template at the right moment
([[template: <id>]]), which is how "show the carousel right after the
person's first reply" becomes a plain authored instruction.
On its own, the agent sees the library (Media you can show: id — description (Use when: hint)) next to the Things catalog, and may attach an item to a card or send one when the description and hint say it fits. Only ids in the library exist to it; it cannot invent pictures. A large library is shown a few at a time: the agent sees the items that fit the conversation, plus any it has already sent, which is why the description and usage hint are worth writing well.
When an item goes away¶
Removing an item deletes the hosted file. Templates or playbooks that
still mention image:<id> keep working: the message sends without the
picture, never with a broken link, and the agent's readiness card flags
the dangling reference so you can fix or drop it.
Other images in an agent¶
The agent's logo, banner and default card image (Behavior · Identity) are fields of their own, set on the Identity page, not the media library. The default card image stands in whenever the agent sends a card without a picture of its own: some channels — RCS through Vonage today — refuse to show a card at all without one, so rather than fall back to plain text the card is shown with this image. Leave it empty and those cards get a plain grey panel instead. A Thing's picture (Knowledge · Things) can be picked from the media library or, for entries that predate it, a raw image URL stored on the entry. Use the media library for everything the agent shows in conversation.
